Green ridges and cloud in the Tian Shan, Kyrgyzstan

Home / About

Azat means “free.”

It's my name, and it's how I want you to feel the day you land. I'm Azat, and I've guided travellers across Kyrgyzstan since 2019. Let me show you my country the way I know it.

Meet the founder

Why I started Azat Tours

I grew up between Issyk-Kul and the Tian Shan, on summers in my grandmother's yurt, woodsmoke, horses, kymyz poured for anyone who passed. Where I'm from, a stranger at the door isn't an interruption. It's a gift.

I started guiding in 2019 because I kept meeting people who'd seen Kyrgyzstan from a bus window but never really met it. I wanted to give them the other version, no fixed script, no tourist bubble. Go at your own pace, sleep under the stars, change the plan when the weather turns perfect. That's what azat means to me: free.

I don't do this alone. I work with guides from Karakol, Naryn and Bishkek who grew up here too, people who know which pass turns dangerous when the clouds come in early, because we've been turned back by it ourselves.

"I don't sell tours. I open the door to my country and say, you're free here. Come in."

Why we do this

Our mission

To help you feel free in Kyrgyzstan, and completely at home. Free to wander at your own pace, to sit at a herder's table, to rewrite the plan when the mountains call. And to leave the country I love better than we found it: fair pay for the families who host you, clean jailoo, valleys our kids will inherit, not just photos of them.

The people you'll actually meet

Meet the team

These are the guides I trust with your trip, born here, every one of them, and with you for every step of the way.

What we stand for

Travel that gives back

Community first

We hire local guides and stay with herder families and village guesthouses, so your money stays in the mountains.

Leave no trace

Small groups, pack-in-pack-out camps, and respect for the jailoo. We protect the places that make this trip special.

Safety, no compromise

First-aid-trained guides, vetted vehicles, satellite comms in remote areas and a 24/7 team in Bishkek.

Let's get you to the mountains
