Your trip opens on the road out of Bishkek, climbing through small villages toward the Too-Ashuu Pass at 3600 m, where the view opens up over the mountains. You drop down into the Suusamyr Valley for a riverside picnic, then follow the Kok-Meren River into the gorge.

### Day 2: Drive to Kyzart & ride to Kilemche

A short drive brings you to Kyzart Village, where a homemade lunch waits at a family homestay and your guide walks you through the basics in the saddle.

From there you set off on a gentle ride along the Chaar-Archa River, easing into the trail through wide valleys to Kilemche. A herder family hosts you at their yurt camp, wander the hills and watch nomad life unfold before dinner.

- Transfer: 90 km · 2 h

- Overnight: Yurt (2700 m)

### Day 3: Over Jalgyz-Karagai Pass to Song-Kul

Today the ride asks more of you, climbing toward the Jalgyz-Karagai Pass at 3300 m. The steady effort pays off at the top, where Song-Kul shimmers into view far below for the first time.

You rest on the pass, then descend to a lakeside yurt camp for lunch. In the afternoon you ride west along the shore, past traditional yurts and grazing herds, to the Tuz-Ashuu pasture by the water.

- Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner at yurt
- Overnight: Yurt (3100 m)

### Day 4: Along Song-Kul to the western shore

An easier day in the saddle, riding the open shore of Song-Kul. With two days behind you, you'll feel more at home with your horse, and your guide may pick up the pace to a canter across the smooth lakeside grass.

By midday you reach the Ozbek-Ashuu pasture on the western shore, where a nomad family serves lunch in their yurt. The afternoon is free, walk the shoreline or take a short ride into the nearby hills before dinner.

### Day 5: Ride to Kyzart, then drive to Issyk-Kul

You say goodbye to your hosts and ride back over the Ozbek-Ashuu Pass at 3300 m, with one last sweeping look over Song-Kul before the trail drops to Kyzart. There's lunch and a chance to rest in the village.

In the afternoon you trade the saddle for the road and drive to the southern shore of Issyk-Kul, with fine views along the way. You arrive at your guesthouse near Bokonbaev in the evening.

The afternoon takes in the Barskoon Waterfalls and the red sandstone of the Jety-Oguz Valley before you reach Karakol, time for a short wander through town before dinner.

- Overnight: Hotel

### Day 7: Trek to Altyn-Arashan hot springs

A short drive to Ak-Suu village, then you shoulder a daypack and set off up the valley to Altyn-Arashan. The trail follows a sparkling river through alpine forest, with a riverside picnic to break the climb.

By early evening you reach the gorge and your guesthouse. After a full day on foot, sink into the natural hot springs, then dinner under a wide mountain sky.

### Day 8: Hike to alpine Ala-Kul Lake

The biggest day of the trip, and one of the most beautiful. On foot or on horseback, you head up from Altyn-Arashan, following the river before the trail turns into the forest and climbs toward the Keldike Gorge.

A last, slippery push brings you to the Ala-Kul Pass at 3900 m, where the turquoise lake and its glaciers spread out below. After photos and a rest, you descend back to Altyn-Arashan for the hot springs and dinner.

In the afternoon you follow the northern shore of Issyk-Kul through Cholpon-Ata and Balykchy, turning up into the Chong-Kemin valley to a cosy guesthouse. After days of trekking and driving, the evening is yours to unwind.
